What are  modern fears? Are we still scared of the dark or have new fears replaced the terror of the old ones? What adults are frightened of and what younger people are frightened of are often very different, and yet the adults often think they know what children are afraid of.

Recent health information films and advertising suggest children are frightened of their parents dying through smoking, yet parents seem to be frightened of the dangers of the internet – although their children are not.

If you believe  the ads, adult women are terrified of getting old.

But maybe the dark does still hold sway …

With the input of the school, the two groups of filmmakers will produce two short films concerning these modern fears, and what monsters will lurk there remains to be seen.

This project is supported by the Lottery through the UK Film Council’s First Light Movies initiative.
